Biography

Şansal Erbacıoğlu is the Partner heading the tax and fiscal services practice of the firm. He advises clients on tax and fiscal aspects of all forms of foreign investments, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, partnerships, equity subscriptions, debt financing, banking and finance, and capital markets transactions. He works with clients on their multi-jurisdictional investments for establishing tax-efficient shareholding, financing, and foreign trade structures, as well as on distributions, liquidations or asset repatriations.

Mr Erbacıoğlu advises clients on a wide variety of taxation matters, including income taxation, investment, financing and real estate taxes, with an emphasis on corporate tax, withholding taxes, value-added tax, banking and insurance transaction tax, resource utilisation support fund levy, inheritance and gift taxes, and stamp tax.

With over 20 years of expertise in structuring, usually tax oriented, also covers consultancy on industry-specific taxation matters and special tax regimes such as EPCs, PPPs, construction, energy, free-trade zones, manufacturing, aerospace and defence industries. He actively takes part in advising clients on remedy plans for loss making entities, internal structuring of FDI and family owned businesses, awards granted to executives and employees, inheritance and estate planning, and in setting optimal debt-equity combinations in accordance with needs and the regulated capital adequacy ratios.

Prior to joining Paksoy, Mr Erbacıoğlu has worked for eight years at a Big Four organisation, where he began his career as a certified fiscal advisor (and a public accountant).
