Samsun Yurt Savunma (SYS), a leading Turkish company in the defence sector that designs and manufactures service pistols under the “Canik” brand for the law enforcement and military market around the world, acquired 80% of the shares in AEI Systems, a UK-based specialist in the design, manufacture and test of military defence equipment for land, naval and air platforms. This is one of the first outbound deals of a Turkish manufacturer in the defence sector acquiring a target in the UK.
Paksoy is pleased to announce that a team led by partner Elvan Aziz, including senior associate Simge Şengün and associate Beritan Arık from the M&A department of Paksoy, together with partner and head of tax and fiscal services Şansal Erbacıoğlu acted as lead counsel to SYS on this transaction with Fieldfisher acting as the UK local counsel.
