1. Firm Culture and Leadership: How has Paksoy fostered a culture that combines both legal excellence and modern business practices? What leadership principles have been key to shaping the firm’s direction over the years?
At Paksoy, our culture is defined in the following line we say in our first meeting with the clients:
Your success is our business.
This is strengthened by a firm commitment to client service and leadership values grounded in collaboration, integrity, and continuous development. From the outset, our approach has been shaped by a singular focus: delivering client-focused solutions through deep expertise and practical insight. We view every mandate not just as a legal task, but as an opportunity to contribute to our clients’ strategic objectives. We are only successful when our clients are successful.
Paksoy’s leadership places great importance on open dialogue and honest communication. This open culture allows us to respond with agility and purpose in a fast-evolving legal landscape. We are also committed to embracing modern business practices that align with the needs of our global clients.
Crucially, we view the continuous investment in our people as essential to the firm’s long-term success.
2. Strategic Growth and Market Positioning: Paksoy has become one of the most respected law firms in Türkiye, particularly for its Corporate/M&A expertise. What strategic decisions have been crucial in reaching this position, and how do you see the firm’s future in a competitive legal market?
Paksoy has consistently specialised in corporate law, mergers and acquisitions, private equity, banking finance, projects and disputes resolution, positioning itself as a go-to firm for complex transactions.
One key strategic decision was to remain independent and focused. This has allowed us to offer unbiased, conflict-free advice, while being agile and responsive. We have cultivated strong relationships with top foreign firms including magic circle firms, top US firms as well as reputable independent law firms across Europe, Japan and other jurisdictions.
Paksoy has always pursued rankings in Chambers & Partners, Legal 500, and IFLR1000, consistently appearing in Tier 1 for corporate and M&A.
In addition, “full-service” legal support and capabilities has been an important factor for Paksoy to be a go-to firm for clients.
Paksoy is committed to remain strong in the legal market. Our focus on high-value cross-border work, extensive best-friend relationships with top firms across the globe in other jurisdictions, deep sector expertise, and international client base gives us competitive edge.
3. Innovation and Technology in Legal Services: With the ongoing technological transformation of the legal industry, how is Paksoy integrating technological tools to improve its services and enhance operational efficiency?
The firm has adopted tools to streamline internal workflows, enhance due diligence, and support complex transaction management. From document automation to collaborative platforms, Paksoy integrates technology thoughtfully—always with the goal of improving client service and responsiveness. Moreover, we use project management and communication tools internally to ensure that our teams work seamlessly across practice areas.
4. Industry Challenges and Opportunities: What do you see as the key challenges and opportunities facing law firms in Türkiye today, and how is Paksoy preparing to navigate them in the coming years?
On the challenge side, geopolitical tensions, and economic fluctuations in Turkey require firms to be more agile and deeply informed. Competition and client demands for more cost-effective, tech-enabled services also raise the bar for service delivery.
Yet these challenges bring opportunities. Turkey’s strategic location, entrepreneurial spirit, and young population continue to attract investment and innovation. As a firm, we see opportunities in areas such as ESG, CBAM, fintech, energy transition, and cross-border disputes. Paksoy is uniquely positioned to lead—thanks to its deep sector knowledge, keeping top talents and expertise within the firm, international outlook, commitment to client-focused culture and innovation.
Education: We support legal education through scholarships, mentoring, and internships—particularly for students from underrepresented regions. Our “Paksoy Pre-Moot” is Türkiye’s only law firm-led pre-moot event. Starting 2025, we will visit two Anatolian universities annually and host selected students for internships in our office.
Equality & Inclusion: Women make up 60% of our firm, including leadership roles. Two of our partners have been named IFLR1000 Women Leaders. We also actively recruit and support disabled talents.
Environment & Animal Welfare: We advise on green loans and sustainability projects, support waste reduction in our offices, and provide aid to animal shelters and pro bono legal assistance to animal rights groups.
Pro Bono: We offer legal support to Save the Children Türkiye and similar organizations, reinforcing our belief in access to justice and community support.
