Biography

Togan Turan is the partner heading the antitrust and competition practice at Paksoy. He also specialises in mergers and acquisitions, and corporate and commercial law.

Togan has been advising on Turkish competition law since the enactment of the law in late 1990s. He has extensive experience in representing clients on antitrust investigations, clearance for mergers and acquisitions, including the negotiation of remedy plans, before the Turkish Competition Authority, and advice with respect to a variety of distribution, licensing, agency, franchise and bancassurance arrangements. Togan also assists clients in conducting internal competition law compliance checks and trainings. He represents clients on competition law matters before administrative courts as well as damage claims arising from anti-competitive findings before civil courts.

Togan has substantial experience in corporate and commercial law. He regularly advises domestic and multinational companies on commercial law and contracts, including corporate structuring and restructuring, legal mergers and spin-offs, as well as corporate governance matters.

In addition, Togan has extensive experience in mergers & acquisitions, privatisations representing a variety of international clients in retail, energy, gas, telecommunications, tobacco, banking, insurance, healthcare, food, and industrial and manufacturing sectors. He takes an active role in all aspects of transactions from due diligence investigations, contract drafting, and negotiating and structuring deals to advising on regulatory aspects such as competition board filings for those transactions.
